Consider iron status when evaluating infants at risk of delayed motor development.

Reticulocyte hemoglobin of <28 pg and ferritin <51 μg/L were associated with suboptimal gross motor scores (< 10th percentile rank) in infants 3–7 months as assessed by the Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS).
